Yu Lan Burkmar initially came to England from Taiwan in 1997, first at the Kent Institute of Art & Design for a BA, and then at London Guildhall for her MA.

During her studies she won several national awards for both design and finished pieces and was named Best Contemporary Jeweller in her own country. In 2002 she came to England to stay and in 2007 was named Best Emerging Designer in Platinum in the UK.
 
The Burkmar Collection is an exclusive range of jewellery hand made in England by this award winning designer. The three materials consist of:
 
Gold: The gold used is 18ct Yellow Gold.
 
Silver: The silver used on the white pendants is Britannia Silver .958 which is 95.8% pure. The increased purity of Britannia Silver attains the 'white' colour that is very much part of the design. The other silver components are Sterling Silver .925.
 
Ally: The Aluminium is 'pre-anodised' ' which is a specialised treatment used for the many colour variations. The chain and components are Sterling Silver .925
